Our Next Event
Our monthly Life Skills Workshop is where we gather with moms for encouragement, connection, and practical support. Volunteers may serve in food service, donations, set up, clean up, childcare, or hospitality. Roles are assigned at the event, and all volunteers should be able to move comfortably, lift items as needed, and care for children. Volunteers may also be assigned to serve in childcare on a rotating basis.

Frequently Asked Questions
Below you will common questions for interested volunteers as well as questions for current volunteers.
Is there a minimum age to volunteer? Most serving roles are open to adults 18+, and roles in childcare, set up, and cleanup are 14+
Do I need to complete training first? Yes. After you submit your interest form, you'll get an email with the required application and online Cherish training so you feel ready and informed on the ministry before serving.
Is fingerprinting required? Yes, all roles involve direct work with moms and children so you will be required to get fingerprinted through Water of Life at no cost to you, Fingerprinting is done bi-annually Winter and Fall.
Can I serve occasionally instead of monthly? Absolutely. All serving opportunities are emailed and texted to you every month. You will RSVP confirming whether you can serve or not for the events.
How do I become a mentor? Mentors must serve with Cherish for at least three months before being considered for a mentoring role. Mentoring is a commitment of about three months and takes place during our spring and fall sessions. To begin, please complete the interest form and let us know that mentoring is on your heart. Mentor assignments depend on the number of moms who sign up for each session, so we cannot guarantee a placement for everyone. However, we will do our best to honor your willingness to walk alongside a young mom with encouragement, spiritual guidance, and care.
Who do I contact with questions? Reach out to out Volunteer Services Coordinator, Pam Orwick, at pam@cherishyoungmoms.org, or the Cherish office at info@cherishyoungmoms.org.
Can I serve at the meeting, even if I can not attend the entire meeting? Of Course! If you notify the Volunteer Coordinator of the times you are able to serve, your assigned roles will be during that time frame.
Should I notify Cherish, if I am unable to serve or arrive/depart as noted on my RSVP? We would really appreciate it, if you notified us when there are any changes to your availability.
Are their roles where I am able to sit down during the meeting, if I have physical limitations? We have limited positions that are sitting down during the event. You are welcome to come and sit in the cafe and/or the welcome center, meeting the young moms and helping them with their children.
Are there certain times of the year that more volunteers are needed? We have a need for more volunteers, during our Thanksgiving and Christmas events. We have a huge need for extra volunteers in May at our Gala.
If I work during the meeting time, are there still roles available? Absolutely! The Special Events have many meeting and prep times and occur at 5pm or later. We also have availability at the office occasionally.
Will there be food provided for volunteers? We have a meal prepared for the moms and their children. At 5pm if there is any food left, any volunteers can have any left over meals. We will always have snacks available, throughout the serving time. If you feel you need anything specific or more than a snack during that time period, please feel free to bring your own food or beverages.
